A Chartered Accountant’s Casebook is a series of articles about managing a small business. The central characters of the story are Bill and Jenny Brown, who own Brown’s Gourmet Cellar. Brown’s Gourmet Cellar is a wine shop, with the addition of gourmet foods such as pate, olives, specialty breads and homemade chocolates. Over the years, Bill and Jenny have extended their cellar and now have a small restaurant where they serve lunches and host monthly ‘wine’ dinners with guest speakers from wineries. The Browns have encountered many situations in dealing with the management of the business where they have sought my advice. The articles cover those situations and the advice given. These articles have been published in two local papers over many years.
